Christmas Concert - tickets for sale

Ticket Express has started to sell tickets for the Christmas Concert to be held on December 28th in the Budapest Congress Centre. The special guests of this evening will be György Cserhalmi (actor), the Hungarian State Folk Dance Group with Gábor Mihályi (choreographer), Bernadett Kiss (singer) and Szabolcs Nagy (keyboard player).

Ghymes Concert Album

The recording which was made at last year's Christmas Concert was first issued in audio CD format recently. The following tracks can be heard on the band's first concert album: Január, Kis, karácsonyi ének, Kétszaxis, Alhambra, Vágyalku, Tüzet viszek, Ária (Rorate), Héjavarázs, Új esztendő. The album also features the guests of the evening: the Matáv Symphonic Orchestra, Bernadett Kiss and Péter Rudolf. There are plans of a soon-to-be-released DVD issue with material from the same concert, and with some extra surprises added.

The second Great Tale Album released

This is a follow-up of the first Great Tale Album which was released two years ago (and which has become a platinum record since then). It contains some Hungarian folk tales presented by such well-known Hungarian actresses and actors as György Bánffy, Ilona Béres, Gyula Bodrogi, János Gálvölgyi, Péter Haumann, László Helyei, Ildikó Pécsi and Gyula Szabó. The music of the album was written and performed by the Ghymes band.

András Laár as guest

The Ghymes club - which moved to a new place (Cultural Center of the 12th District [XII. Kerületi Művelődési Központ]) in the autumn -, presents a surprise to the audience again on November 6th; the evening's special guest will be András Laár.

Musical picture postcard for Christmas

There are four songs (Jézuska kiscsizmája [Little Jesus's Boots], Vágyalku, Altató [Lullaby], Új esztendő [New year]) on a mini-CD, which is included in a Christmas picture postcard. Ghymes Club again

The first autumn Ghymes club will be held on October 4th, 8pm, in the Cultural Center of the 12th District [XII. Kerületi Művelődési Központ], formerly known as MOM Culture House [MOM Művelődési Ház]. The guests of the event will be the Patria Company [Pátria Társaság] from Košice [Kassa]. Its members are Tibor Tóth, Marcell Kováts, István Sallai, and they selected from the ballads of János Arany (famous 19th century Hungarian poet) for this evening.

Autumn Festivals

The band finished their summer season with a successful tour in Spain, which resulted in an invitation from the organizers to the same place for some time in November. There will be two Ghymes concerts on festivals in September: the first on September 11th, 7:30pm on the 12th International Wine and Champagne Festival (www.budapestiborfesztival.hu). The second event is organized by Etyek village, the so-called "vineyard of Budapest", on September 27th. It is called "Kezes-Lábos" (Hands and Feet) Festival (www.kezes-labos.hu) with Ghymes performing at 7pm.

Concerts near Lake Balaton

You can visit four different types of concerts during the summer festival season: on July 25th, 11pm there will be a Hawkspell concert in the village of Öcs, as part of the Valley of Arts program. Next day, at 9pm the band will play at the Vents d'Est (Eastern Wind) concert at the same place. On August 2nd, 2pm, visitors are welcome to a children's concert at a Royal Cook Contest in Nagyszakácsi. The same day, at 8pm a concert with a unique set-list will be held at the ruins of a 12th century church at Alsódörgicse, which you can see in the picture beside.

Ballet

The concert at the Margaret Island Open Air Theatre featured a new song by Tamás Szarka titled Ballet. It is the first piece of a solo album which is currently in the making. The success of this song is indicated by the fact that there has been numerous requests for its lyrics since then. Fulfilling this request, the lyrics of this song (in Hungarian) is available (under the "Érdekességek" menu on the Hungarian version of the homepage) from now on.

Concert in Taksony (Matúškovo/SK)

There are many enquirers from Hungary to the Ghymes concert in Taksony. The band will perform in a village which resides in "Mátyus-Land", near the river Vág, in the neighbourhood of the town of Galanta. The concert will be held in the local Culture House on July 18, 6pm, as part of the traditional "village days".
