The Ghymes band closes their Spring Tour with a concert to be held on the Margitszigeti Szabadtéri Színpad (Margaret Island Open Air Theatre) on 13th June (14th June in case of bad weather). Several exciting novelties are expected for this evening: a brand new composition by Tamás Szarka, composed for this particular occasion. The dancers of the Magyar Állami Népi Együttes (Hungarian State Folk Dance Group) will perform to this composition, and three more Ghymes songs, also with choreography assembled for this occasion. All the songs from the album Héjavarázs (Hawkspell) will be performed, even those that were previously unheard in concerts. Bernadett Kiss will sing as guest again, besides the permanent guest musicians (Csaba Kún, Péter Jelasity, Sándor Tiba). Another guest musician, Szabolcs Nagy will play on keyboards. The near two hours long concert will end with a real surprise. |
The recently published Ghymes Book is available by postal order (collect on delivery) - mail orders to the publisher: Di-Color Studio, 1462, Budapest Pf.: 433., Hungary. You can also order the poem book by Tamás Szarka titled VÁVÁVÁ here. Both issues can be ordered at this phone number as well: +36(30)9335-102. (Both issues are available in Hungarian only.) |
This is the title of two special concerts by the band: these will be held on 17th May in the Óperencia Country Club in Szombathely (tickets: +36(94)511-266), and on 28th June in the Barcsay udvar in Szentendre (tickets: +36(26)312-657) respectively. These concerts represent the more lyrical or authentic folklore side of the Ghymes repertoire. |
A press conference will be held on the apropos of the recent release of the Ghymes Book. The event begins at 11 o'clock, 25th April, in the round hall of the MOM Cultural Center. The band has just won their second Golden Giraffe Award in the category of "Jazz/world music release of the year" for their platinum album Héjavarázs (Hawkspell). Besides the announcement of the new book that introduces the band in 140 pages and 70 photos, other topics - like the tour closing concert, that will be held on Margitsziget (Margaret Island) on 13th June - will be covered as well during the meeting. |
After winning this award for the album Üzenet (Message) last year, the band repeated its success this year by taking the Golden Giraffe Award home in the category of "Jazz/world music release of the year" for the album Héjavarázs (Hawkspell)! |
The organizers of the concert in Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky) expect visitors from Hungary besides the local audience.
