Tamás Szarka’s first audio book titled Anonymus I. is to be released soon. It will contain the author’s six poems and two short stories in the performances of György Dörner, Károly Eperjes, Károly Gesztesi, Erika Pápai, Péter Rudolf, András Stohl, Tamás Szarka and Mari Törőcsik. |
The audio book is planned to be released by Kossuth Kiadó (publisher) on March 28th, 2008.
Attila Kaszás's album titled "Kit ringat a bölcső, Janikát..." won the Fonogram - Hungarian Music Award in the category "Children's Album Of The Year" in 2008. |
The album consists of tales, both Gyula and Tamás Szarka participate in several of the music pieces as authors and performers.
The advisory board of the Pro Renovanda Cultura Hungariae Foundation has awarded prizes to persons who achieve outstanding results in the area of education, culture and science every year since 1993 on the day of Hungarian culture (January 22nd). |
The Ghymes Band is among the prize winners this year, the advisory board gave the Kemény Zsigmond Prize to the band for their success in the artistic cultivatiion of Hungarian folk music across the borders.
The Prizes were given to the winners at a ceremony held at the Hungarian Science Academy on January 12th.
The upcoming year is passing by in terms of the anniversary for Ghymes. The band that was formed in 1983 (and took up the Ghymes name in 1984) is preparing for the special year with several surprises besides the usual annual concert tour which begins at the end of January. |
Several large-scale birthday concerts are expected to be held during the course of year.
A dance production will be premiered in the summer at the International Folk Dance Festival, which is held within the frames of the Open-Air Festival at Szeged, which is based on the life of Móric Benyovszky. The performance is conceived by Tamás Szarka, the music is written by the Szarka brothers, and it will be performed live by the Ghmes Band.
The band is planning to release a new album by the fall of this year, accompanied by a large-scale concert presenting the new material.

|An hommage album has been released in memory of Attila Kaszás (a popular Hungarian actor who passed away suddenly a few months ago) The album is titled "Kit ringat a bölcső, Janikát...", and contains the last recordings of the actor, as well as poems and children tales performed by colleagues and friends. Gyula and Tamás Szarka participate in the musical parts of the album as authors and performers.|
|Tamás Szarka was asked by the Duna Television to compose music for the channel’s 15th birthday. The song titled Kézfogás (Handshake) is available for listening on the „Magyar Karácsony” („Hungarian Christmas”) page of the channel’s website. A video clip has also been made for the song, it will soon be shown in Duna TV.|
On the day of the Ghymes band’s Christmas Concert (December 26th), the visitors can see a live Bethlehem in front of the Arena. This will feature living animals, persons representing the Holy Family and live music (Christmas songs performed by children).|
The Bethlehem can be seen free of charge from early afternoon until the start of the concert.
